Wire Transfer Policy

Wire Transfer PolicyWhat is the U.S. banking policy on the incoming wire transfers?

I will receive an incoming transfer $ 100k + and I was wondering what paperwork the bank will take me by the reception. I heard they require an invoice, but this is not a commercial transaction, just a wire transfer personnel. I know they act funny when the money on some key accounts. Will they freeze my account and make me feel like a criminal? Money is legitimate and I have a valid mortgage, and direct deposit with this bank for 10 + years to "know your customer" is a non-issue. It's a shame that I even ask this question, what happened to our American freedom? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can thank the Patriot Act for much of this, but banking regs are there to catch the bad guys as I call them. Do not suggest that you are in this category.

Given the amount, you can contact your local branch manager, just give them a head before his arrival. I've been through similar example with a bank that has kept my IRA, 401K, two checking accounts and a savings acct (almost 15 years). Originally, they wanted to put a hold on my 21-day money, which was certified funds from another bank. I needed immediately. Do they cut it down to 24 or 48 hours, but eventually cut me a cashier's check.
