Vetsulin Insulin

Our dog was diagnosed as diabetic. We have access to relatively inexpensive sources of insulin Humolog and want to use it instead of Vetsulin (insulin for animals) that our vet prescribed. Perhaps substatution and effects and the doses are the same?
