Job losses caused by the recession direct impact on all doctors' incomes. When millions of people lose their jobs, they also lose their health insurance and doctors lose patients who can pay. Hopefully, the job loss is short-term withdrawal, but it affects the demand for services and income for the doctors immediately. This effect destroys the underlying projections of demand growth made a few years ago. Shortage of anaesthesiologists

This compares to an increase of 13 per cent in the number of doctors in all specialties.

ACC

The rising cost of health care can significantly affect the demand for physician services. ACC, which can perform more routine tasks of physicians at a fraction of the cost, may be increasingly used. In addition, the demand for physician services is very sensitive to changes in reimbursement policies of health care.
