Rescue StretcherHeavyweight Stretchers - Size does matter

Today, about two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese, and much of the dramatic increase in obesity numbers occurred during the last 20 years. As obesity statistics have changed, so that the capacity of transportation systems of patients such as stretchers and wheelchairs.

Overweight people may be more likely than lean people to be in a situation that requires them to be placed on a stretcher and transported to the emergency department of a hospital. But transporting large people are not the same as the implementation of lean people, such as patient transportation systems, as the shafts are usually a standard capacity of treating humans weighing between 350 and 500.

Accordingly, he raised an issue that is too serious to be ignored. Transportation overweight individual may cause harm to patients or nurses or both. If reactions may include equipment, small, simply cracking under pressure, or a person of large size fall of a stretcher , and doctors are not able to handle the load and / or get hurt.

These and other such concerns have been on top of mind for manufacturers of medical equipment. And recently, they were bringing out the transport systems of patients, such as stretchers with thick aluminum frame supports the spine for extra bulkier connectors, easily handle loads up to 650 pounds .

Although these facilities extended capacity does not solve the problem at hand, they also add the acquisition cost of these products. However, it seems to be safer for an ambulance team of these products in their repertoire than be sorry later. A botched rescue operation will undoubtedly be a pain for all participants.

As society evolves, but undesirable, more people are larger. Equipment and health care should also change, because size matters.
