Rehydration Salts

Rehydration SaltsHow can you administer oral rehydration salts for a puppy?

I can not go to the vet immediately so that emergency measure, I have tried to administer oral rehydration salts for my puppy who has diarrhea. However, it would not open his mouth, even if I spoon fluid flow to it. What is the best way to administer the salts? Also, is there any other first aid measures to treat diarrhea?

You can get liquids in small putting the spoon on the edge of the side of the mouth .. I wish I could take a pic! lol
but with the mouth closed, slide the liquid just inside her lips on the side of the mouth .. It runs between the front teeth and molars .. where the gap between two sections of teeth .. I give about 3 tablespoons at a time this way ... Make sure his head is a bit high so it does not panic.

***** ****** Do NOT do anything it !!!!!!!!!

This is not a "first aid" option, there twit! Leave It Alone!

For future reference, not now!-Use a syringe to administer fluids.

I do not know if the puppies are like babies, but if they are, then you can take their nostrils closed until they open their mouth, then a spoonful of the substance as much as you can for the mouth is open.
I used to have a dog that you can open the mouth by lifting the gums back to front. Where the cheek with your fingers and prying open the bottom jaw.
Good luck. I know how gut wrenching this company sick puppy can be!

try with a syringe can be. Just be careful that it does suck the fluid in her lungs, I think there could be a danger that if you hold the mouth open. In reality, the answer is "With difficulty"

Diarrhea may be an underlying problem to something else. Try to contact some rescue organizations in your area, they may be able to help you more. It is a place called imom.org that can help with the costs, but you need an estimate from a veterinarian. Make sure that the body temperature of dogs is at least 100 before giving fluids. If it is it is essentially a waste of time that the body can not metabolize. Gatorade or pedalyte work well for hydration again. No food if vomiting or diarrhea that the gastrointestinal system needs rest.
