private hip replacement? I'm curious to know how long patients must wait for a private hip replacement in South-East of Ireland?
Hip replacement is performed when the orthopedic surgeon decides that you're ready for one. Public or private. The transaction is serious and you should get up and moving the day after surgery. That's why they want to ensure that you are physically healthy, not over weight, you can survive a certain amount of pain, you are what they consider a good candidate. My aunt just had a private VHI bills and I was shocked because she never seemed to be in pain, never had a limp, the problem was getting out of bed and chair. That is no problem walking, running, just standing, once it was up she was well, then the fact she had a hip replacement, shook me. Have you e-mail Mary Harney? Have you sued the orthopedic surgeon? If your surgeon says you need a hip replacement, then you can enjoy the private for salaries and therefore in the coming weeks, so I do not know why you're still waiting? Until the consultant orthopedic surgeon said "YOU NEED a new hip, so why are you still waiting? Good luck

Below are waiting times across Ireland for the hip.
I do not know about Ireland. In a private hospital specializing in South London, you can see the specialist in 3 days and will be operating next week (once tests have been performed).
My stepfather wanted a new hip, but could not get an NHS (he was in his 90s, and I guess they thought they would not get value for money) so he got one made in private hospital in BMI. A few weeks later he fell and broke one and had replaced it as an emergency in an NHS hospital by the same surgeon who had done the first. I told him he should be repaired in various garages.
