Physician Assistant Residency Programs

To become a physician assistant (PA), it is mandatory for everyone to complete a program accredited PA. In the U.S., there are about 142 programs offered by schools of national renown. It is not difficult for you to find a program that suits you, if you understand the programs. Here are 4 main things you should know:

· Most PA programs allow students to obtain the award of Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies, health sciences or medical sciences. Some schools even offer a clinical doctorate students.

· The time taken for training is usually 2-3 years. It consists of classroom instruction and laboratory medical science and behavior, such as microbiology, anatomy, pharmacology, clinical medicine, the physical diagnosis, pathology, etc. Students are not obliged to complete the residence after graduation.

· There are similar programs offered by various states. You have the freedom to choose either the program in the state or outside the program in the state. In order to save the cost of travel, it would be ideal for you to choose the school that is nearest to your home.

· In general, the different schools have different requirements for entry. The schools usually assess candidates by GPA, Graduate Record Exam, Medical College Admission Test or the number of hours of experience in patient care. Therefore, you must make sure that you have fulfilled the basic requirements before submitting your application.
