Lymphedema Arm SleeveI am a breast cancer patient who had lymph nodes removed. Now I have a mild lymphedema. My doctor had fitted a sleeve and glove lymphedema. Is it involves bushing to cut the circulation in my arms and hands? It seems that since I am the door blown up not gotten better. I also use a ball of stress that seems to work best of all. lymphedema sleeves are generally not do much to help reduce swelling, they just prevent it from getting worse. They help more prevention, in my experience, that the reduction of swelling, you already have. Compression (elastic) bandage work better for that. It's just that they are more difficult to obtain on the compression sleeve, and most doctors will start with them. If you have a lot of swelling, it may be you will need drainage manual, or a pneumatic pump assisted drainage. The problem is with the drainage manual, you need a physiotherapist who is trained and experienced in doing this, and both methods are costly. You can usually rent the pump from a medical supply store, however, and most insurance plans will pay for that prescribed by your doctor. Pump treatment lasts about two hours a day, but if you're committed to him, he can be very useful in the management of edema. In some cases, once you noticed the swelling of the pump, you can use the handle to prevent it again so bad. The sleeve should not be cut off blood circulation to the forearm is, and you should have two of them. You should wear one, and one spare so you can wash and dry them and swap them every two days. It should also not make the swelling worse. It seems that you should talk to your doctor and physiotherapist again as soon as you can. In the meantime, it might be preferable not to wear the sleeve and back to raise their arms and do the exercises, you should have learned. If you can go swimming, which is a great way to help this. You can wear an old neck while swimming, and between the movement of the arm stroke and the pressure of the water, you can see some improvement in the swelling of the arm. In any case, you should consult your doctor again. I have questions about the pump, at least for a while, too. Posted on March 14, 2010.
