Before the procedure

Please do not take blood thinning medication for 7 days before your sedation procedure (aspirin, coumadin, Plavix, percentine, Lovenox or vitamin E).

Procedure

The patient was given spinal / general anesthesia, placed in lithotomy position and prepared and draped in the usual standard sterile manner. A cystoscope was then gently placed into the urethral opening and the length of the urethra inspected. An area strictured was noted in the bulbous urethra to lend DVIU. The urethral meatus was dilated to 30 French with sequential dilators Hagrow urethral.

A scope and sheath DVIU were placed in the urethra and stricture was incised under direct vision with a knife sod Collins. The entire depth of the stricture was incised until compatible blood was made from the website ......

After the procedure

• You will have a Foley catheter into the urethra during bladder
• We will teach you to empty your bladder and take care of the Foley catheter
• You can have bleeding on the side of the probe of your penis - it - is common .....

The results of this procedure have been satisfactory to our short-term follow-up in 70-80% of patients, but rates of long-term success are much lower .....

Risks / Complications

The risks and complications of the procedure where extensively discussed with the patient. The general risks of this procedure include, but are not limited to bleeding, transfusion, infection, wound infection / dehiscence, pain, fear of tissues, the procedure fails, the potential harm to other surrounding structures, deep venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, myocardial infarction, myocardial infarction, heart failure, stroke, death or a long stay in the intensive care unit (ICU ).....
