Drawstring Curtains

Drawstring CurtainsMake Your Own Halloween decorations

We are all reducing our spending to only necessary, but that does not mean your house should be dull and uninviting for Halloween with these simple and inexpensive to make home decorations.

Below I give you instructions for making a web of Halloween and Halloween pumpkin bags with output cut face and the word "CPE", but use your imagination - the models can be used on all kinds of things, as cushion covers, curtains, placemats, napkins - the list goes on!

Fabric & Notions

For the water, you must first measure the length and width of your table. If you have a table that extends, to extend first before measuring. You must then add an allowance for draping over the side.

However, this preference is purely personal. Some people like tablecloths that drape almost to the ground, others as their much shorter. My general rule is to add the amount of the decrease in your chair.

You measured by placing the top of your tape measure level with the top of the table and measure until you hit the seat of the chair. For me, it's 10 ½ "(or 27cm).

Now, remember, you need to add that on each side, plus a seam allowance. Even if a normal seam allowance is 5 / 8 ", I usually allow for greater sewing a tablecloth that we will machine sew it. I always allow ¾".

So if your table is 5ft by 4 feet, then you will need:

Length: 60 "over 21" (drop ends) and 1 ½ "(seam allowance 2) - 82 ½"

Width: 48 "over 21" (drop ends) and 1 ½ "(seam allowance 2) - 70 ½"

Or, in metric

Length: 160 cm PLUS 54cm (drop ends) MORE 4cm (2 seam allowances) - 218cm

Width: 54cm 122cm PLUS (drop at each end) MORE 4cm (2 seam allowances) - 180

For each bag of Trick or Treat, you will need 2 pieces of fabric 10 inches by 12 inches (26cm or 31cm by). So if you have 3 children, you'll need 30 "by 24" (78cm by 62cm, or).

You'll also need a slide for the trick or treat bags - say 30 "(76cm or) per bag.

Like Halloween, try to find a bright orange fabric for the tablecloth and Nice bags and black for the cutouts! Or you could go gothic, and buy black (but make sure the cuts are so bright orange or white).

The Cut Outs

For cutting, the amount of fabric depends on how much you want to place on your tablecloth. Cut each pumpkin measures 7 "by 7 ½" (17cm by 19cm) - So if you want to put eight pumpkins on your tablecloth, you'll need 28 "by 15" (68cm by 38cm or). The cut outs BOO measure 2 "by 5 ½" (13 ½ cm by 5 cm) so if you want to put 16 BOOS on your tablecloth, you will need 22 '8 "(54cm by 20cm or). And I recommend a pumpkin and a BOO for each side of the bag. Or you can simply buy a yard of fabric and cut as many as you can!

You can find sample cuts on our website (see box below resource author).

To compensate

Mark your tablecloth with tailors chalk or pins, and cut. Mark rectangles for your trick or treat bags and cut.

Now pin a ¾ "hem around the entire border of your cloth and sewing.

Place both pieces of bag to the place where cons, and the two side seams and pin the bottom. Sew around a continuous line. Now turn over half an inch on top and sew. (Note: if you plan to use a sewing machine cuts on Halloween, then these before the side seams). We now need to return the hem sewn over another inch - make sure to leave enough room for the cord to pass through. .
