You were diagnosed with diabetes, fortunately, diabetes does not mean what it once did and current research and break through to say that things continue to improve as you read this.

Holidays, Travel airline, cruise and travel long distances to a holiday destination are possible. It requires some planning and extra work, but you can do.

You need to plan for them and prepare for possible emergency, which allows a safe and pleasant journey for you.

aec Consult your doctor and medical support team about changing doses of insulin and an extra prescription for insulin.

aec Bring a snack and juice and plenty of water wherever you go. This will help if you need to quickly raise blood sugar levels. Keep extra supplies of diabetes in the same package. If you keep everything together, they will be ready when the need arises.

aec Make sure to pack extra supplies in a purse or handbag is a good idea to even pack extras in your diabetes and several bags.

aec Always wear your medical alert bracelet and all other medical information that may be necessary.

aec Your friends and family members should know the route you are traveling.

aec Make reservations for popular restaurants can help you avoid long waits. They may also be able to provide nutritional information on menu selections.

aec Remember that any changes in physical activity, even the packaging or loading the car, can cause blood glucose levels to swing high or low.

aec Insulin should not be allowed to freeze and must be kept out of direct sunlight, as well as all the supplies, the sunlight can affect test results. Ice packs can be used to keep the insulin refrigerated.

aec And finally, can not say often enough, have always much insulin and food for all the unexpected moments of any trip.

Going to a theme park or water park? Be careful and keep your insulin supplies in a waterproof bag to avoid water damage.

When traveling in a boat, the diabetic must be aware of all the seasickness, they may suffer. The main problem with insulin-dependent diabetic patient is that seasickness can disrupt their diabetic state and lead them to have problems.

Will you fly? If you happen to have an insulin pump, ask them to make a visual inspection of your insulin pump and to a physical pat down. If you go through the metal detector, you can disable it. Most should know what an insulin pump but it does not hurt to remind them. If you are asked to remove your pump, to remind them that this is a needle under the skin.

Once you've had your armored vehicles, the following are diabetic supplies that can be transported on board with you.

- Glucagon Emergency Kit

- Test Strips Ketone

- A container for disposal or something similar and an unlimited supply of syringes and test strips

- Insulin Pump and Supplies, including all supplies necessary for cleaning, extra plastic tubing, infusion kits, batteries, catheter, and needle

- Insulin dispensing products, including vials, pens, injectors, balls, and preloaded syringes and insulin

- The test strips lancets, glucometers, alcohol swabs, meter and other testing supplies

- Unlimited number of used syringes as long as they are to your insulin or other medication that is injected.

Remember when you travel, do not check all of your diabetic supplies. If you watched the news, you know there are many bags are lost each year.

Check your blood sugar more often during the time away from home is the best. It is advisable to check at least six times.
