Bed Alarms

Bed AlarmsAny advice on bed wetting alarms?

So I'll have a lot of frustration with my 6 year old wetting the bed at night. Here are all the things we've tried so far ...
Limit drinks after dinner
Objective pot just before bedtime
wake him when I go to bed and make him go to pot again
All in vain, he goes to pee before going to bed when I wake in the night and then again in the middle of the night, he had an accident. Regularly.
I think that buying a bed wetting alarm but I would like some advice on the types of alarms that other moms have tried and whether they were helpful at all.
Thank you.

Its understandable to be frustrated, but please do not let your son see this frustration. He is wetting in her sleep, so he was unconscious and completely unaware of what his body does when he arrives. punish or even show frustration with the situation is detrimental to their self-esteem, as he realizes he has no control over it.

The most important thing to remember is to be in favor of this situation. Some studies show that stress, but a cause of bedwetting for a very low percentage of bed-wetting, will mean more beds wet with almost all children. Let him know you understand this is not his fault and that you are there for him if he needs someone to talk to about it.

If you do not, it may be interesting to talk to his next appointment with his pediatrician, just to he can follow his progress. At his age, the doctor will certainly not be concerned because about 15% of children 6 years still wet the bed, and there is no need to worry.

I want to meet some of the things you tried and why they did not work.

First, the fluid restriction is an old-wives tale that has absolutely no basis in scientific evidence. Despite this, some doctors recommend it as a treatment, even if they never learned this in medical school - they are merely providing a personal opinion based on things they have heard. Think of it this way: If you drink four glasses of water before going to sleep, you wet your bed? Of course not. The problem is not too fluid, his body of your son. Please do not let him die of thirst. Dehydration is potentially dangerous and has no advantage in this situation.

Secondly, the wake in the night will not work. A recent study has shown that even some children may be cons-productive! The scientists who conducted the study believe that since the child was not fully awake when taken to the bathroom, and is "required" to pee, the parent is actually training child to wet while he sleeps. You may have seen evidence of this himself. Ask him if he remembers being woken up to pee the night before. I guarantee it will not .. and the reason is that he never really awake!

As you said, regardless of these old-wives-tale-treatment, he still wets the bed. The reason is simple - they do not work.

Now, having him go to the bathroom before bed can not be disputed, because it will empty his bladder. Most of the time, it will still wet, but the accidents should be smaller and less mess.

Now, there is a treatment that has been scientifically proven to help some young people to stop wetting the bed, and that is the subject of this issue: bed-wetting alarm. They are all essentially the same thing. There is a sensor that goes inside his underwear or diapers and a receiver that sounds an alarm at the first drop of urine. The models vary in design, the most expensive being wireless, but are essentially the same. It may be difficult to understand, but it's actually very different from the one you go inside and wake up in the middle of the night. Even if he is unable to go to the bathroom after the alarm goes off and.
