MarketplaceAfrican Walking Company A company can be sued for this? I work for a business (construction worker as concrete), all the guys who work there are all older than me. I'm only 18. So sometimes they are just a way of telling me. First day I got a guy there said the "N" word. And I put on my knee paid and they would be as a boy we see all your trying to ask. But yesterday I felt really out of place. I went to the bathroom and came back. And they did a really shitty. The guy who was in charge made a joke (which would offend any African Amer.). And knowing that I am the only African-American he even made it worse. Everyone laughs, and the only thing I can do is just walk. The boss and the supervisor was not there because they were on vacation. But the person who instructed the supervisor, was the one who made the joke. Only one guy hit me and said it was not fair to say that. They just continue to laugh. Well I turned and walked away. Is it the company or possible trouble continued for words that offend an African American? I'm about sick of all the crap. When I wake in the morning and knowing I have to deal with them all sorts of five to five days do not make me want to enter but I do because I have a life and things should be supported. What kind of lawyer that I could go? write down everything that happens and who was present when it happened. This company can certainly be pursued. It is illegal to discriminate in all workplaces for some reason! Besides contacting the EEOC, you must call NAACP and advice from them. They can help you get some guidance on the action you can take. www.naacp.org Posted on March 10, 2010.
